about
‘Somewhere on the border of South Dakota, Jack McCall anxiously peers into his re-view mirror as the circus of police lights and sirens draw closer’
‘Dead Man’s Hand’ is the first digital release from Jacob Aedam’s psychedelic spaghetti western EP; ‘Lone Mountain. The track is reminiscent of a Quieten Tarantino b-side, with an underbelly narrative executed by Buddy Ryan.
The arrangement plunges the listener through the slums of Las Vegas, (a signature trademark of Aedam’s sound design) as the chorus brings a gospel beacon of hope, only to be side swiped back into the thick of the action. Buddy Ryan takes on the persona of the story’s protagonist; ‘Jack McCall’ and delivers his own brand of method rapping to bring the character to life.
‘Dead Man’s Hand’ is apart of the ‘Who Shot Bill?’ universe, a story written by Jacob Aedam and Scott Coller. The narrative follows protagonist Jack McCall and his journey through Las Vegas after being accused of the murder of Wild Bill Hickok. ’Dead Man’s Hand’ shines a light on the first act of Jack’s journey, while sound design and foley in the tracks production foreshadow the turbulent journey that’s to be embarked.
